How Yoga Changed My Life - Mariah
Seven years ago I began yoga as a hobby. I rented a yoga dvd from the local library to begin a physical practice. I quickly realized it was so much more than just exercise. After months of solo practice and a year of being at a studio, I was approached about Yoga Teacher Training. Unable to attend at the time due to time & finances, I dedicated myself to practicing every day and reading all the required material to further my education regardless of limitations. After a year of dedication I was able to attend the first of my education into YTT. It didn’t take long to realize yoga is so much more. It’s about finding a connection between the body, mind and spirit. Through guided meditations and vinyasa inspired flows, I found my passion to help people find that connection in a playful and welcoming environment. Being upside down in an inversion is my favorite way to view the world. It’s a beautiful way of expression and new perspective.
My focus in life is to use yoga as a tool to change people’s lives as it did my own. It is to not only teach people who already love yoga but to teach the people who need it. To teach those who are skeptical, who doubt their body’s ability to bend, and for others who do not know where to begin. For the ones who already have an understanding of yoga and it’s benefits, I hope to inspire them by helping them deepen their practice with playfulness and freedom. Freedom to be who they are. There is no mask on the mat, only hope. -Mariah
